Visas

Visa (document), a document issued by the Principality’s government with conditional authority given by a competent authority of the Principality for a person who is not a citizen of that country to enter the territory of Principality Monte de Agrella and to remain there for a limited duration.

The Principality attaches various conditions to the visas, such as duration of stay, dates of validity, whether the visa is valid for more than one visit, etc. Visas are associated with the request for permission to enter a country, and are thus, distinct from actual formal permission for an alien to enter and remain in the country. In any event, a visa is subject to permission of an immigration official at the time of actual entry, and can be revoked at any time.

The Principality’s visa is a stamp endorsed in the applicant’s passport or other travel document. The visa, when required, from a traveler wishing to enter another country must apply in advance for a visa, sometimes in person at a consular office, by mail or over the internet. The actual visa may still be an endorsement in the passport or may take the form of a document or an electronic record of the authorization, which the applicant can print before leaving home and produce on entry to the host country. The Principality will determine if they require visas for short visits, as well as requiring that the citizens, as well as foreign travelers, obtain an “exit visa” to be allowed to leave the Principality.

Authority and activities

Consuls of various ranks may have specific legal authority for certain activities, such as notarizing documents. The Principality will determine if the Consular officials are responsible for the issuance of visas; or the Government of the Principality may limit “Consular services” to providing assistance to compatriots, legalization of documents, etc. Nonetheless, Consulates proper will be headed by Consuls of various ranks, even if such officials have little or no connection with the more limited sense of Consular service.

Activities of the Consulate include protecting the interests of their citizens temporarily or permanently resident in the host country, issuing passports; issuing visas to foreigners and public diplomacy.

Permanent Residency

Permanent residency refers to a person’s visa status: the person is allowed to reside indefinitely within the Principality of which he or she is not a citizen. A person with such status is known as a permanent resident.

Permanent residents may be required to fulfill specific residence obligations to maintain their status.  Permanent residents may be required to reside in the Principality for a given minimum length of time.

People who are granted permanent residency in the Principality Monte de Agrella will be issued some sort of documentary evidence as legal proof of this status. The Principality will determine if a stamp on the person’s passport indicating that the holder was admitted as a permanent resident or, that he/she was exempt from immigration control and permitted to work without restriction.  The Principality will determine if they will issue a photo ID card, place a visa sticker or certificate of residence in the person’s passport, or issue a letter to confirm their permanent resident status.
